Demonic Temple (cont.)

Bru’shlee and Kane worked on putting out the sizzling explosive powder making its way to the powder-kegs, stopping any explosion, and giving the party time to question Gerhard Pendergrast on his actions and betrayal before making a potentially grim determination on his life. Gerhard Pendergrast recognizing the position he was in came clean with the adventuring group, noting how a past expidition’s excursion featured at the museum of antiquities in Oppara had made claims about this region that this temple later discovered and conflicted with, damaging his reputation…so it had to be destroyed to protect his integrity throughout the lands. Though despicable, the party decided to march him back to his original basecamp, destroy the remaining blue dragon pillar, and send Gerhard Pendergrast on his way down stream, agreeing not to return, additionally said he had some items collected during this expedition that he would surrender to the party for the decency of allowing him to live.

Being midday, the Regulators also took Gerhard Pendergrast’s recommendation in using the ruins to stay through the night before setting out early for basecamp, providing the most protection and good sleep for them all. Hands bound, and loosely foisted on an overhead rafter, the party secured Gerhard, stripped him of his belongings, and settled in for the night.

Back to Basecamp

The party made their way through the Mwangi Jungle along the northern edges of the Vangi River, reaching basecamp just after dusk, whilst avoiding two different hunting parties, making Gerhard even more nervous of the situation than initially believed.

Honor and Grace

The Regulators displayed honor and grace where Gerhard Pendergrast did not, cutting his bindings, allowing him to collect some personal effects, and even Kane provided him a dagger. Before they sent Gerhard Pendergrast out into the darkness on his small boat to head back upstream, he assisted G’roynn Ironshaft with locating the crate with the remains of the Blue Dragon Pillar, even warning him about his fellow men being turned to stone before opening it. Thankfully G’roynn Ironshaft quickly dodged the eyebeam that attacked him the moment he opened the crate before slamming it shut.

Gerhard Pendergrast took this as his queue to leave, already defeated and disgruntled for the fate of his expedition, he set out onto the dark night in the river as the party set out to use the explosive powderkegs they collected from Gerhard Pendergrast prior to detonating the crate. With a perfect shot, G’roynn Ironshaft’s flaming arrow hit its mark and ignited the first keg, triggering the second, and causing a massive explosion, ripping the remains of the pillar within the crate to smoldering ash. With that complete, the Regulators sifted through their newfound loot and got some rest in their nice large four person tent procured from Gerhard Pendergrast’s Expedition.

Jungle to Citadel

Little issue traversing all day through the Jungle back to the Temple of Ketephys, reaching it by nightfall, where the Regulators wasted little time making it through the Huntersgate and Demiplane before returning to Alseta’s Ring and more importantly, Citadel Altaerein and their own beds.
