TOMMORROW MUST BURN

Starday, Rova 7th, 4719 AR (cont.)

Dreamgate, Abelstia’s Tomb

This room is decorated with tiny, glowing points of light and scratched carvings of butterflies. Upon a short dais at one end between two hallways are two delicate bare feet apparently carved from stone. Chunks of shattered stone around the dais hint at the fate of the rest of the statue. Nailed to the wall above the dais is the preserved corpse of a hideously ugly gray-skinned horned woman. The wall behind her once bore a written message in flowing script, but it’s been scratched out and replaced by a new phrase.

Once a devotion to the Goddess Desna, this room is now desecrated with demonic writing “Praise to Abelstia, for Succulent Nightmares”. Voz Lirayne noted this disfigured pale leathery skinned humanoid seemed to be a hag of some sort. Additionally Voz Lirayne discovered more ancient elven writ near the broken statue, “Praise to Desna, for Sweet Dreams.” Two items were also discovered and then identified by Kane; a magical ring of lies, and a heartstone on a silver chain that no longer possesses its magical properties.

Dreadful Dreams

The centerpiece of this room is a tall statue of a willow tree carved from pale marble. Six oversized roots around the base of the tree resemble stone beds radiating out from the trunk, with just enough room to climb into them beneath the statue’s stone branches. Exits lead out from opposite sides of the room.

Traversing the room revealed the stone willow tree was in fact animated, attacking anything and anyone in reach. While dealing and resisting heavy damage, the stone tree relented and its animation came to an end. Kane, inspecting the tree further, notes a disc-shaped indentation in the tree’s trunk about the size of a human hand. After thirty minutes into the party healing themselves and preparing to continue, the Regulators all observe the stone tree is slowly repairing itself. Uncertain of how much time remaining before being attacked again, they moved through the dimensional door to the east onto the next room.

Murky Archway

One wall of this room contains an ornate archway of stones carved with symbols of stars, comets, and waves. The space underneath the archway is filled with a featureless stone plug that has been decorated with a complex series of runes scribed in what looks like long-dried blood, while the ground below the archway is scorched black. Four ornate chairs surround a silver cauldron to one side of the room, while a large wooden table with some books atop it stands against the opposite wall. The room contains two exits in the wall opposite the blocked archway.

As the Regulators arrive in this room, similar but opposite in dimensions to Abelstia’s Tomb where they entered this demiplane, they observe Rusty Mae and another Hag, Senna, engaged in tense negotiations for the services of a bone devil named Haznazak. Haznazak recanted this information during questioning after surrendering to the party, valuing his undeath over extinction. Haznazak, whom Rusty Mae recently conjured via planar ally was in service to the Hags as a scout and spy, a task which Haznazak enjoyed, but was renegotiating the terms when the party arrived. Now he’s more concerned with escaping this predicament. Though before they would learn of this, the Regulators along with Voz Lirayne first dealt with the Hags, putting an end to their miserable existence.

A shrieking scream along with a horse snarl coming from the southwest…

Before the Regulators had time to rummage over the bodies of the slain Hag foes, or converse with Haznazak on the demons dealing with the Hags, another shriek and horse snarl came from the southwest corridor. Before the party could truly react, Jegan was transformed into a Giant Rat, while a few others quickly moved into position. The Night Hag, Kelleni, riding atop the Nightmare, Coalgnasher. Charged across the room, slamming into Kane, Adélina Cornaro, and finally into Voz Lirayne.

The demon Haznazak, speaking in common, called for a deal where for it’s aid, it would ally with the Regulators so it could leave and return to his home where it came. The party agreed to it’s terms, and thus bolstering it’s efforts against their new foes. Haznazak, Bru-shlee, Calamity “Cal” Graves, and Adélina focused their efforts on Coalgnasher, while Kane and Voz focused on the Kelleni. While the damage was substantial to a few of the party, it did not take long for the Regulators to vanquish the last remaining Hag of this coven making their home in the Dreamgate Demiplane.

Afterward the Regulators conversed with Haznazak to gain any more relevant information, which was sparse, just noting that it was summoned by Rusty Mae, and while it enjoyed its tormenting work allied with the Hags, they were not living up to their bargin, which is where the party entered the room, observing the argument. With that, it faded out of the demiplane.
